Norton Rose Fulbright obtains complete defense verdict in a 5-day product liability trial

On May 5, 2017, we secured a complete defense verdict for client, Zimmer Biomet Holdings, Inc., in a 5-day product liability trial in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas (Marshall Division). Plaintiff alleged that she suffered personal and economic injuries as a result of a hip replacement device manufactured by Zimmer. The plaintiff was seeking actual damages of US$25 million plus punitive damages between US$100 million and US$200 million. In less than an hour and half, the jury returned a complete verdict in Zimmer’s favor.
